Stephen Jones was honoured to be appointed Chairman of the British Hat Guild, a society of leading British Milliners.

 

Exhibitions:

‘Stephen Jones Hats at the Royal Pavilion’, Brighton, featuring almost 200 hats from his 40-year archive and designer collaborations, sponsored by Harvey Nichols. A capsule collection was created exclusively for Harvey Nichols inspired by the Exhibition.

‘Christian Dior Designer of Dreams’, at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London featuring over 120 SJ/CD hats. Commissioned to create 15 new head-dresses for British display. SJ in conversation with curator Oriole Cullen; ‘The Process’ of creating the exhibition pieces.

‘Dior: From Paris to the World’ at The Dallas Museum of Art, USA. Exhibited 90 SJ/CD hats and headdresses.

‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ , at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Created 70 headdresses for the display and SJ archive hats also exhibited. SJ designed ‘Camp’ hats and headdresses for many celebrity guests for the opening gala, including Cardi B and Bette Midler.

‘In Pursuit of Fashion: The Sandy Schreier Collection’ At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Created 60 whimsical headdresses to compliment the incomparable  Sandy Schreier bequest of 20th Century fashion.

‘Paris, Capital of Fashion’ Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, exhibition poster.
 

Fashion Shows:

‘Hats Ahoy! A Millinery Parade by Stephen Jones’ two SJ fashion shows featuring 100 archive hats on the Cunard ocean liner, Queen Mary 2‘Transatlantic Fashion Week’ crossing from New York to Southampton, including SJ in conversation with journalist Hilary Alexander.

Dior Couture; Paris, Shanghai, Dubai, and a special collaboration with milliner Martine Henry for Cruise collection shown in Marrakech. Dior Men , Miami.
 

Commissions:

SS 2019 hat ‘Les Fleurs’, collaborated with Royal Ascot Racecourse for, ‘The Royal Ascot Collective.’  sponsored by Fenwick.

SJ x Comme des Garcons hats from the 1980’s recreated to be sold exclusively at the 15th anniversary of Dover Street Market, London.

SJ created 53 masks for the Opera, ‘Orlando’ for the Vienna State Opera in collaboration with  Rei Kawakubo x Comme des Garcons who designed the costumes.

SJ created illuminated headdresses for the dancers and many guests masks for the Dior Venetian Heritage Tiepolo Ball, Palazzo Labia, Venice.

 

Lecturing:

‘Hatology’ ‘Penny Stamps Distinguished Speaker Series’ at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Detroit, followed by a trunk show at Linda Dresner, Birmingham, Michigan.

‘The Collector’ in conversation with Alex Fury, Victoria Siddall and Antonia Marsh,  at the Wallace Collection, London.

‘What it takes to create a legacy worth remembering?’ in conversation with Caroline Issa of Tank magazine at Cartier, London.

‘The Season’ SJ lecture at the Church of St Michael & All Angels, Chalton.

‘In conversation with Stephen Jones’ with Tamsin Blanchard at Wentworth Club, Surrey.

‘Stephen Jones Chapeaux Dior’. Lecture at the Dior Academy in London and Paris.

‘Head to Head; London and Paris’, in conversation with Mimma Viglezio at SHOWstudio.

Mentored Alighieri, Isosceles Lingerie, Roker and The Season Hats for the ‘NewGen: Accessories Initiative’,  supported by the British Fashion Council.
