The Hats of Stephen Jones

‘The Hats of Stephen Jones’ featured a selection of eight hats from the SJ archive interspersed throughout the Saint Louis Art Museum, USA permanent collection’s opening the conversation between art and contemporary millinery.

Simon Kelly curated the exhibition displaying and opening a dialogue through different mediums of both millinery and art. From ‘Grandiflora’ a tulle rose boater coinciding with Claude Monet’s ‘Water Lillies’ 1840-1926 oil painting to ‘Multi-Coloured Butterfly of Love’ the earliest hat displayed in the collection, which was inspired by the work of Impressionist artist Edgar Degas sits with his bronze sculpture ‘Little Dancer of Fourteen Years’ 1880.
